Metros maybe moving and other local news items

3 Brentwood players/alumni played as part of the TN ODP game against Korea's U17 team.

Hoover, Alabama has been selected to host the 2011 NCAA Division I Men's Soccer Championship. Dates for the tournament are Dec 9 - 11, 2011.

And finally, Greg Pogue wrote an interesting Daily News Journal article a week ago talking up a possible permanent move by the Nashville Metros to Siegel Soccer Park in Murfreesboro. And he also teases us with ... "But the Metros' owners are also considering a return in 2012 to again placing a team in the USL's Second Division, a true professional soccer level where players are compensated. That league is one step below Major League Soccer — the top professional league in the United States."

Nashville Group to Attempt Longest Soccer Game Ever

The Tennessean had an article today about an upcoming record-setting attempt by Ultimate Goal Ministry. For roughly 43 hours starting Friday July 30th and ending Sunday August 1st, they will be trying to play the longest recreational soccer match in history. The site of the game is Lighthouse Christian Academy in Antioch, and if you want to go watch, you'll also find inflatables, a soccer clinic, and a chance to sign the petition to bring the world cup to Nashville.

You'll probably also learn a thing or two about Ultimate Goal itself, which works to bring hope and opportunity through soccer to under-resourced youth in the Nashville area.
