Reflections on the first year of Music City Soccer

Wow, you'd think there was very little soccer indeed in the Music City, judging by how little I've posted over the last year, so along, with my pledge to do better in the coming year, here's a little proof that any deficiencies are solely mine:

Club soccer continues to grow in out area. Aside from the big ones, we have:
- Futbol Club Academy announcing plans to anchor a new sports complex in Antioch
- Nashville Soccer United, a brand new club, was formed to bring a "travel light" program to metro Nashville
- Eagle Express Soccer Club, which has been around for years, finally has its own website, and it's first State Champions

Futsal has also grown, with leagues now near Cool Springs, in Hendersonville and Murfreesboro, and at Ensworth High School

I'd like to see more training and play opportunities in the summers and winters, but at least we do have:
- Soccer specific training at M.A.D. Sports Training by Cool Springs
- Open play and field rental at the WestSide Soccer Center

Local players are performing well at the college level, including:
- Susannah Dennis, from Franklin and BGA, is a Sophomore at Georgia and finished third on the team in goals.
- Vanderbilt Sophomore midfielder Dana Schwartz (from Brentwood) had 3 goals and 2 assists for the Commodores
- Daniel Kelly of Hendersonville finished a four-year career at Indiana University with 76 games played and 67 starts.
- Trevecca Goalie and Hendersonville native Hayden Coffman was named to the TransSouth All Conference team
